Dheer Kaku is a visual artist who employs multiple mediums (drawing, photography, video, sound) in his practice. Heavily influenced by urban landscapes and the inorganic nature of structural transitions and design, he inclines towards capturing these transformations and distortions while exploring the limitations of the medium itself. Dheer’s work reflects his observations and challenges as he navigates these spaces and the increasingly pervasive claustrophobia that the city steeps in.
He has a BFA from the Rachana Sansad Academy of Fine Arts, Mumbai, and has attended residencies at KHOJ, New Delhi (2014), TIFA, Pune (2016), Space118 (2013) and What About Art? (2016, 2017), Mumbai, and HH Art Spaces, Goa (2016), creating drawings, video, interactive video installations, and experimenting with projection mapping and live sound. He received the INLAKS Fine Art award in 2015.
Dheer is now based in Goa where he works as a fine artist, freelance designer, film-maker. He has worked with the Max Mueller Bhavan, Mumbai; Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke, Mumbai; Project 88, Mumbai; HH Art Spaces, Goa; Serendipity Arts Festival, Goa, amongst others.
